Trail Building Projects
- Help celebrate Community Impact Day 2000 as we
join Community Impact in
constructing a 300 ft.-long boardwalk over
marshland above Searsville Lake in Stanford
University’s Jasper Ridge Biological
Preserve. This ADA-compliant walkway will allow
researchers and visitors to access the wetlands
above the lake in winter months; rising water
levels have regularly flooded the area in recent
winters, making travel to major portion of the
Preserve difficult or impossible. We will also
construct a retaining wall and raise the tread
level on a nearby trail also affected by flooding,
as well as trim back overhanging brush.
No construction or
trail building experience required. Participants
are encouraged to bring adjustable wrenches and
socket sets (SAE) to use on the boardwalk (please
mark your tools!). Bring water, lunch long pants,
boots or sturdy shoes and gloves (if you have
them).
Important note: Because this is a
joint project with Community Impact and space is
limited, please go to the CI website to register
for the event.
A Project
Information Sheet for this event is in preparation
For
more information about the preserve, see the Preserve website (includes a
map).
