Thirty enthusiastic Trail Center volunteers and crew leaders gathered at Sam McDonald Park early on April 18 for a scenic car shuttle to their work site in Pescadero Creek County Park where they worked with rangers to re-route a trail that had been closed by a huge downed tree.
Rangers wielded chain saws while Trail Center volunteers built the new route and improved sections of existing trail.
“When we work a horse and hiker-friendly trail we clear enough space – both width and height – for a horse and rider. The result feels like an avenue through the woods for a hiker,” said Trail Center volunteer and board member Helen Shaughnessy.
